Mombasa: Thirteen people were killed in northern Kenya during an armed attack on two villages, a senior government official told dpa on Wednesday.
Marsabit County Commissioner Evans Achoki said that 10 people - including four pupils - were killed during the raid on Tuesday evening, while three police officers died after responding to the attack.
Its motive was not immediately clear, but the area has seen violence between rival tribes in the past.
Achoki spoke of “bandits” in describing Tuesday’s incident. The attackers made away with more than 400 head of cattle. (DPA)
