THE Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed al Hammadi held a series of meetings on the sidelines of the 40th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in Paris.
Hammadi held separate meetings with the Minister of Education of Iraq Dr Suha al Ali Bey; Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research of Morocco Said Amzazi; and Minister of Education and Vocational Training of Tanzania Rizki Pembe Juma.
Discussions during the meetings dealt with cooperation between Qatar and the three countries and the ways to boost them, especially in the field of education.
Hammadi also met with Dr Stefania Giannini, assistant director-general of UNESCO, and discussed with her the implementation of the joint action plan between Qatar and UNESCO, as well as the arrangements made for the World Education Conference to be held in Doha in 2021.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education also met with Qatari students who are studying in France, in the presence of a number of officials of the ministry. He reviewed their academic and social conditions and urged them to excel in their fields in order to meet the needs of the State.
The minister told the students to be the best ambassadors of their country and to preserve their Qatari identity, while engaging with the French society and participating in their cultural events and various university activities in order to develop their personal skills and to be open to different opinions and views.
Hammadi also listened to the Qatari students’ suggestions and assured them of following-up on their requirements.
Hammadi also stressed that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is working hard to increase the number of scholarships, praising in this context the distinguished relations between Qatar and France in various fields.
For their part, the students expressed their satisfaction over their meeting with the minister, appreciating the interest of the State and its keenness to overcome obstacles that they might face while studying abroad.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education is heading Qatar’s delegation to the 40th session of UNESCO.
