Kayke Rodriguez struck a brilliant hat-trick as Qatar SC cruised past Al Gharafa 3-0 in Round 2 (Group B) of the 2019-20 Ooredoo Cup at the Al Ahli Stadium on Saturday.
Kayke scored in the sixth, 38th and 94th minutes.
The win took Qatar SC on to six points with their second victory, having defeated Al Sailiya 4-0 in the first round.
Al Gharafa now have two points as they had drawn 2-2 with Al Duhail earlier.
Qatar SC dominated two-time reigning champions Al Gharafa and Brazilian forward Rodriguez was in fine form. He scored two goals in the first half and completed his hat-trick in style as the game was drawing to a close.
Qatar SC goalkeeper Motasem Majed was in outstanding form, effecting at least two smart saves, as Al Gharafa, who missed many players due to national duty, struggled to find a breakthrough.
Kayke first found the target off a cross from Hamad Mansour.
His second came after he was set up by Elmehdi Barrahma.
Kayke rounded off his and the team’s tally off a counter-attack.
Also in Group B, Said Brahmi scored five goals, while Ahmed al Mohanadi bagged a brace as Al Khor thumped Al Duhail 7-0 at the Al Khor Stadium.
The 24-year-old striker opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Mohanadi found the net twice. It was all Brahmi in the second half as the 2014 AFC U-19 winner scored five minutes into the second half.
The striker scored his third four minutes later before further strikes on 61 and 84th minute wrapped up a valuable win which moves Al Khor to second in the group.
Al Arabi ended a five-match winless run in all competitions to beat Al Sailiya 2-1.
Hamdi Harbaoui’s first half double was enough for the Dream Team despite Hassan al Maiahi’s strike for Al Sailiya.
Al Arabi are now third in the group ahead of Al Gharafa, Al Duhail and Al Sailiya.
In Group A on Friday, Al Rayyan thumped Al Ahli 4-1 to maintain their lead, while Al Sadd beat Al Shahania 3-1 as Al Wakrah and Umm Salal played out a goalless draw.
