In welcome news for commuters, Doha Metro will start the test run for the Green Line from next Tuesday (December 10). With this, all the three lines of the Doha Metro will become operational.
Like other lines, the Green Line will remain open from 6 am to 11 pm from Saturday to Thursday. On Fridays, it will be open from 2 pm to 11 pm, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC).
The Green Line, which runs across east to west of Doha, has 11 stations, extending from Al Mansoura to Al Riffa.
The stations are Al Mansoura, Msheireb (Interchange), Al Bidda, The White Palace, Hamad Hospital, Al Messila, Al Rayyan Al Qadeem, Al Shaqab, Qatar National Library, Education City and Al Riffa (Mall of Qatar).
This line will help football fans to travel to Education City stadium, which will host the Club World Cup final on December 21.
Passengers travelling on Green Line can switch lines at Msheireb and Al Bidda without any additional charge.
There will also be a Metrolink service that will connect passengers to the areas surrounding the stations.
The routes can be accessed on Qatar Rail’s main website or its mobile application.
The preview service of the Green Line will also see the opening of other stations in the Red Line: Hamad International Airport, Katara, Qatar University and Lusail.
From Tuesday, all 40 metro stations in the Red (18), Gold (11), and Green (11) Lines will be fully operational.
With the opening of all the three lines of the Doha Metro, visiting malls can now become much convenient. Passengers can reach Mall of Qatar (Al Riffa station) via the Green Line; Villaggio via the Gold Line; and City Center via the Red Line.
All journeys including those requiring an interchange will only cost QR2 in standard and family class, and QR10 in Gold class for one trip.
