Members of the Pakistani community paid glowing tributes to the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, at a colourful event organised at the Salt n Pepper restaurant by Pakistani Professional Community (PPC), a group of Pakistani professional expatriates.
A large number of people including families and children attended the event. Community representatives and young students highlighted the sacrifices made by Quaid-e-Azam and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement for the creation of a separate homeland. This was followed by
the singing of patriotic songs. A documentary film on the life-long journey and political struggles of Quaid-e-Azam, who became Pakistan’s first Governor-General, was also screened on the occasion.
The event also comprised a quiz competition on Jinnah and his life, and students presented their drawings underlining the different aspects of his personality.
Anwar Ali Rana conducted the event. Introducing the various segments of the event, he said December 25 is celebrated every year by the Pakistani expatriate community in Qatar to remember their great leader and pay tributes to him for his selfless struggle for Pakistan.
Arshad Hussain, chief organiser of PPC, spoke about the leadership qualities of Jinnah. He said, “I thank all the guests and families for joining us in remembering our beloved leader. Quaid-e-Azam’s life epitomises all the qualities of a great leader. He had a very high vision and the power to connect to his people, and was selfless in his life. There is a great lesson for the young students as they need to have a clear vision about what they want to achieve in life and then struggle for it with full devotion.”
Fahad Ismail, a youth community representative, underscored the expectations that Quaid-e-Azam had from youths and students of Pakistan.
Anushey Tariq, a student of Grade-X, delivered speech on ‘Leadership role of Quaid-e-Azam prior to the creation of Pakistan’.
Almas, another student, highlighted how Quaid-e-Azam was able to translate his dreams into reality.
Tahir Jamil, a noted community representative and an Urdu poet, praised Jinnah and Pakistan through his select poetry.
Speaking on the occasion, Janan Khan, a well-known Pakistan community leader, said, “I thank the PPC for organising the event to celebrate the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam. We need to introduce our younger generation to the ideas and vision of our great leaders.”
Aamir Khan, an entrepreneur who sponsored the event, said, “I am happy to be a part of the celebration and see how enthusiastic our young generation is about our leader. We need to follow the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam because that is the only way forward for Pakistan.”
