Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has announced that it will continue to accept nominations for the 4th annual Qatar Sustainability Awards until January 26.
The Qatar Sustainability Awards is one of the first and largest awards in Qatar that honour the efforts, commitment and excellence of people, institutions and organisations in supporting sustainable development.
The announcement was made during a ceremony to honour partners and sponsors of the fourth annual edition of the ‘Qatar Sustainability Week 2019’ organised by QGBC on Thursday.
Director of QGBC Engineer Meshal al Shammari appreciated the effective and valuable participation of public and private institutions that contribute to achieving the Council’s vision to build a sustainable future, valuing their role in the ‘Qatar Sustainability Week’ initiative aimed at building a healthy environment and contributing to achieving the sustainable development goals of Qatar.
He pointed out that the partners, through their contributions, highlighted innovative solutions to the environmental challenges facing Qatar and the region as a whole, praising their programmes and efforts to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030 in line with the global sustainability agenda.
Shammari said the fourth edition of the Qatar Sustainability Week, which concluded last November, witnessed the organisation of more than 280 events in cooperation with more than 160 partners from various fields, which provided specific programmes for all groups of the society.
He added that the activities had a significant impact on society as the number of follow-ups on social media reached more than five million and the messages of the Council to the public reached almost a million, varying between Friday sermons, electronic platforms, advertising campaigns and advertisements to educate the largest possible number of citizens and residents about the goals of the council.
Shammari called on all organisations, governmental and private, and individuals to play an active role in achieving the goals of national sustainability in accordance with the Qatar National Vision and the national development strategy.
