The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has issued a decision to demolish houses in old Abu Hamour area near the Qatar Independent Technical School. It said all the residents of the area will be relocated to another site.
Central Municipal Council (CMC) Abdullah Alkhawar said the State Properties Department said the houses in this area are very old and the area didn't keep pace with the redevelopment.
The residents have been asked to submit housing papers in the ministry's tower on the sixth floor on Mondays and Thursdays of every week for starting the removal process.
The residents are required to bring copies of the identity cards of owner and tenant, a copy of the lease agreement, detailed testimony from the employer explaining the housing allowance with utility receipts, property number and street, a copy of the marriage certificate, and phone number.
"Residents of this area are requested to respond quickly to the decision. These residents have their rights and they should be moved to suitable accommodations," Alkhawar said.
He is confident that the government would never abandon them and help them get a decent accommodation. The State Properties Department is responsible for registration of all land and property, according to a report in Al Sharq.
