The Qatar Paralympic Committee organised a reception to honour its team which returned from the 2016 Rio Games with two silver medals. QPC General Secretary Dr Hassan Mohammed al Ansari was present on the occasion. Abdullah bin Hamad al Attiyah, the former energy minister and Chairman of the Abdullah bin Hamad al Attiyah International Foundation of Energy and Sustainable Development, Qatar Athletics Federation President Dahlan al Hamad, Rio Games high jump silver medallist Mutaz Essa Barshim and Olympian hammer thrower Ashraf Elseify also attended the function. Abdelrahman Abdulqadir and Sarah Masoud won one silver medal each in the just-concluded Special Olympics. Qatar team's third member Mohammed al Kubaisi was also feted.
