PREPARATIONS are underway in Doha to host the largest competition for the top winners of the Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Bin Thani Holy Quran Contest held worldwide from November 27 till December 6, 2016.
As many as 39 contestants from different countries and continents who were top winners in the most notable Quran contests worldwide are expected to participate in the 'Winner of Winners' contest which will coincide with the celebration of the National Day of Qatar.
The first place winner will receive QR1million- the highest ever prize in the history of Quran contests- to honour outstanding holders of the Holy Quran and to inspire the new generation of Qatar to follow suit.
The first edition of the 'Winner of Winners' contest is considered one of the most prominent events on the Doha cultural scene as the year 2016 draws to an end and the new Hijri year 1438 starts.
Ever since the issuance of the Cabinet Decree to form the Organizing Committee of the Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Bin Thani Quran Contest on November 1, 1993, and until the present day, this contest, which features the broadest categories and highest rewards in the modern history of Qatar, has witnessed continuous progress as well as a qualitative surge.
The issuance of Cabinet Decree no 24 of the year 2013, especially enhanced the competition's human potential and funds and made programme possible to expand it into accommodating new categories and multiple classes of society into the Contest.
