The Next Generation School (TNG) organised a dental hygiene workshop for its kindergarten students.
Dr Sampath Sundar from Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre conducted the workshop. Through slides and various dental models, the doctor explained the importance of brushing teeth twice a day. The doctor demonstrated good brushing technique on a teeth model.
Encouraging them to cut down on sweets, the doctor quizzed the students using flash cards asking them about healthy and unhealthy food items."We hope to reduce the number of cavity cases by organising wide scale campaigns in schools and inculcating the habit of oral care and healthy eating from early stages which can minimise the risk of tooth decay and related problems," said Dr Sundar. He appreciated the high energy of the kindergarten students who actively participated in the workshop.
"School is an ideal place where good hygiene habits can be established. Healthy habits should be instilled from early childhood so that it is followed in their growing years. Their minds are sharp and absorb a good deal of information and this workshop serves as an excellent opportunity for them to learn about good oral care," said Principal Qudsia Asad. She emphasised that for the students to excel academically, they must adopt a healthy lifestyle which equips them with a strong personality and leadership abilities.
Students interacted with high interest sharing their thoughts and answering the questions shown on the video clips. TNG values the importance of healthy lifestyle and often organises activities that promote healthy eating habits.
