THE Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Bin Omran Trading & Contracting, the construction contractor of the Interim Upgrade of E-Ring Road and Najma Street project, achieved a significant accomplishment of two million man-hours without loss time injury (LTI).
To mark the achievement, Ashghal honoured the project contractor for its achievements for safety in the workplace. Director of Infrastructure Affairs at Ashghal Engineer Jalal Salhi presented a certificate of appreciation to Sassine El Nachef, chief operating officer of Bin Omran Trading & Contracting.
The award ceremony was attended by Engineer Mohammed Jamal al Khazendar, head of Secondary Projects Section, along with representatives from Ashghal's Secondary Projects Section and Bin Omran Trading & Contracting.
The achievement reflects Ashghal's and its contractor's commitment to implement highest safety standards.
It is worth mentioning that Ashghal requires all contractors to protect workers and commuters against workplace hazards.
The upgrade of E-Ring Road and Najma Street project includes works on approximately three kilometres of Najma Street and the expansion of the road from two to three lanes in each direction in addition to converting two roundabouts to a signal-controlled intersection.
The project will also develop and expand 3.3 kilometres of the E-Ring Road, convert Al Thumama junction to a signal-controlled intersection and upgrade the existing junction between the Airport Street and E-Ring Road to enable the road users to make U-turns.
It also includes provision of car parking, pedestrians and cycles pathways and implementation of landscaping works.
