A DELEGATION from the Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) recently visited the Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, as part of a series of scheduled visits to several social institutions before and during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
With the spirit of compassion being central to Ramadan, AZF organised the visit to demonstrate its commitment towards the local community by reaching out to several social institutions to spread joy among children, families and the elderly.
The Shafallah Centre provides specialised services in accordance with global best practices to help individuals with disabilities achieve maximum independence.
AZF's team visit also helps spread awareness of people living with disabilities.
The visit was arranged before the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan as the Shafallah Centre's academic year draws to a close soon.
Commenting on the visit, Salman al Ali, representative of the Public Relations and Communications Unit at Shafallah, said:"We are pleased to welcome the representatives of AZF, one of the leading sports institutions in Qatar and the region, to our centre. This visit underscores the social role AZF plays in the local community and demonstrates its ongoing commitment to local initiatives. It shows why the people of Qatar are known for their compassion and care. We have seen our students interacting joyfully with the visitors and I am looking forward to more visits from AZF in the future."
The officials of the Shafallah Centre took the visiting delegation on a tour of several departments and units that offer behaviour analysis services, evaluation and diagnosis, social services and counselling to students and their parents in order to strengthen the learning process for students as well as assist them and their families with psychosocial and social adjustment.
Following the tour, AZF delegates visited the classrooms where they had friendly conversations with the supervisors and interacted with the children who received sports-themed tokens and gifts.
At the end of the visit, AZF reassured the Shafallah Centre that the Foundation's doors are open to their students, who are always welcome to practice physical activity and sports at its fully equipped and accessible facilities.
AZF's social responsibility focuses on promoting a culture of sports amongst all members of the local community, and encouraging them to adopt healthy and active lifestyles. AZF engages with members of the local community and makes available to them all of its services as part of its efforts to contribute to the local society as part of the realisation of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
