A riot of colour was on display as the flower exhibition kicked off at Al Khor and Al Dhakera Yard with the participation of six local farms and companies on Thursday.
Organised by the Agricultural Affairs Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), the three-day exhibition saw a large turnout of visitors on the first day.
The opening was attended by Director of Agricultural Affairs Department Yousef al Khulaifi and General Supervisor of Qatari Products Yards Abdul Rahman al Sulaiti.
Khulaifi said the ministry is organising such exhibitions to promote the local products such as flowers and honey among citizens.
Khulaifi said there are many types of local flowers — seasonal as well as cut flowers which are used for gifts and decoration on display.
The exhibition is the second one after the one held at Al Mazrouah Yard a few weeks ago.
The next flower exhibition will be held at Al Wakra Yard in March.
Besides flower exhibitions, the MME will also organise honey exhibition at Al Mazrouah Yard next week.
"About 20,000 flowers were sold during the first flower exhibition. We hope to sell more at this exhibition," he said.
On his part, Sulaiti said this exhibition is the first to be held in Al Khor and Al Dhakera Yard this season.
He said such exhibitions offer high-quality local products of various kinds and urged the public to visit the yards
