The General Directorate of Traffic has urged motorists not to stop their vehicles in the yellow boxes on roads, as it impedes smooth flow of traffic and causes accidents.
Traffic rules do not allow vehicles to stop in yellow boxes even if the signal light is green and the road in front is congested with vehicles. Such behaviour goes against road etiquette.
The Traffic Directorate has recorded more than 400 violations for stopping in the yellow boxes in the past two months, according to First Lieutenant Ahmed Ali al Kuwari.
Aiming to bring down this type of violations, the Traffic Directorate has begun monitoring of vehicles stopping in the yellow boxes.
"Traffic officials will monitor yellow boxes through surveillance cameras and three images of violating vehicles will be taken. The images will be sent to the violators via Metrash and a fine of QR500 will be slapped on them along with three black points," Kuwari said.
