Qatar is always ready for talks to resolve the Gulf crisis as everybody are losers in this issue, the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani has said.
"There is no winner. We are all brothers and we are all losers from the crisis. Therefore Qatar is open to dialogue in accordance with agreements binding on all parties and by respecting the sovereignty of states," he said at a press conference with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Emir said Indonesia is an important country in the Islamic world and his talks with the Indonesian leader dealt with several issues, including the unjust siege on Qatar, its humanitarian effects on the people of Qatar and the Gulf countries, and the Rohingya issue.
The Emir called for an urgent solution to the Rohingya problem, adding Qatar has provided assistance to the affected people.
"It is the duty of all countries to provide assistance to the Rohingya refugees. Myanmar government must put an end to this problem," he said.
The Emir said his talks also included bilateral cooperation in investment, infrastructure, energy and tourism.
The Indonesian president described the Emir's visit as a very important event as it is the first state visit of the Emir to the country. It also coincides with the 41st anniversary of Qatar-Indonesia diplomatic relations.
Widodo said the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in infrastructure and tourism sectors. He added that Indonesia is looking forward to further investments in the country.
The Emir and the Indonesian president witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU).
These include an MoU to establish a joint committee to enhance cooperation on political, economic, social, cultural, tourism, technological, navigational, agricultural and industrial areas as well as in banking and financial services.
The ceremony was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir and Indonesian ministers.
The Emir also attended a luncheon banquet hosted by the president.
Earlier in the day, the Emir was accorded an official reception at Bogor Presidential Palace.
The Emir reviewed a guard of honour. A 21-gun salute was also accorded during the ceremony.
Following the reception, the Emir planted a Jasmine flower tree, the national flower of Indonesia, in the presidential palace garden.
The Emir left Indonesia on Wednesday afternoon after completing the two-day visit.
The Emir and the accompanying delegation were seen off at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport by Indonesia's Minister of Education and Culture Dr Muhadjir Effendy, Qatar's Ambassador to Indonesia HE Ahmed bin Jassim al Hamar and Indonesia's Ambassador to Qatar HE Muhammad Basri Sidehabi.
