Under the gracious patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Racing Club, and amidst a large audience that filled the club’s stands, the third round of 4x4 Freestyle Drifting Championship for the 2023-24 season concluded late Friday evening. Over 70 competitors participated, showcasing their leadership skills in a competition that spanned more than 5 hours. Each participant was given one opportunity to enter the track to perform a set of manoeuvers within a specified time period.
This round witnessed intense competitions that held the audience’s breath until the last moments, aiming to secure top positions for the prize money awarded to the top five. The results saw Hassan Al Qahtani securing the fifth position, while the champion of the opening round, Abdullah Al Qahtani, claimed the fourth position in this round. The third podium place went to Saud Al Merri, marking his second podium in the current season.
Abdulrahman Al Shammari took the second position, marking his first appearance on the podium in this championship and winning thesecond position (QR15,000). The top spot on the podium went to Abdulrahman Al Kubaisi who delivered the best performance, winning QR20,000.
At the conclusion of the competitions, HE Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid Al Thani, the General Manager of Qatar Racing Club, crowned the top three winners, thus concluding the events of the third round of the championship. Only one round remains, scheduled to take place on March 21 and 22, 2024.
The focus now is on preparations for hosting the 2024 Arabian Drag Racing League with its five rounds, scheduled over five consecutive weeks.
The opening round is set to begin on Jan 11th and 12th, concluding with the final round on Feb 8th and 9th. The championship will witness the participation of drag race champions from Qatar and the Arabian Gulf. Additionally, on the sidelines of the second round, the 11th edition of the Qatar Custom Show is scheduled to take place from Feb 16th to 20th, attracting a large number of car and motorcycle enthusiasts, automotive agencies, and sports teams from both within and outside the country.
