In our previous issue, we asked some Kabayans on what they look forward to in the Filipino community this 2024. This time, we also heard from other Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) here in Qatar on what they anticipate from their fellow Filipinos and the local government this New Year and here’s what they have to say…

Excited about the ongoing growth and collaboration among diverse Filipino organisations in Qatar, including professionals, socio-civic groups, sports, culture, arts, and others. Our community truly shines, creates camaraderie, and unites to foster career development and cherish cultural bonds while away from our families. As an officer of one Filipino organisation, we further highlight our commitment to economic empowerment; one of our visions is to harness and leverage individuals’ financial resources. As Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), let’s start nurturing our finances to ensure a solid foundation for our eventual return to the Philippines. Together, these efforts weave a strong bond of unity and support in the Filipino community here in Qatar.

As an OFW for many years in Qatar, I observed that Filipinos have gone through a lot for the success of the host country. The Filipino community in Qatar has historically played a significant role in the country’s workforce. Looking forward to 2024, I anticipated that the community will continue contributing to Qatar’s diverse cultural landscape and economy. Efforts to enhance community integration and support services may further improve the overall well-being of Filipinos living in Qatar.
