Birla Public School (BPS) celebrated Qatar National Day with great warmth and joy in the presence of parents, staff, students and special guests from the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).
Students took out a parade led by the school band and bearers of 'One Love', iconic symbol of Qatari hospitality to millions of expatriates living in Qatar.
The parade started with a salute from MIA Deputy Director Salem al Aswad, Chairman Lukose Chacko, Vice-Chairman Gope Shahani, Principal A P Sharma and others senior officials.
BPS Head Girl Linda Lukose read out the pledge: 'Long live Qatar, Long Live the Emir, Long Live Father Emir, we love Qatar,' which was then repeated by the whole school.
Aswad recalled the services rendered by Indians serving Qatar in various service sectors and said,"Service rendered by Indian people in Qatar is remarkable. They have contributed greatly in building our nation."
MIA Head of Visitors Services Abdullah al Dowsari was the guest of honour.
Chacko said: 'We are privileged to live in this beautiful country and we are grateful to the people, the Emir and the country. I do not think that there is any other place in the world where expatriate people can lead their lives in such way. We feel very safe and comfortable to live, work, and study in this very hospitable country thanks to the benevolent rulers of the country."
Principal A P Sharma paid rich tributes to the rulers of Qatar, its people and complimented them for their great hospitality. He thanked the state and its rulers for giving the expats a safe place to work and live and prayed for the health and happiness of all.
The school also presented a cultural programme in tune with the theme of the Qatar National Day celebrations.
One of the highlights of the evening was the dignitaries joining the children on stage while performing a Qatari dance eulogising the Emir. The programme was compered by Junior section teachers Larissa and Shweta.
