Qatar-based Indian poet and writer Maqsood Anwar Maqsood has returned from India after participating in an international mushaira organised at the Science City auditorium, Kolkata by the Muslim Institute in association with West Bengal Urdu Academy.
The mushaira was attended by legendary poets like Dr Rahat Indori, Wasim Barelvi, Gulzaar Dahelvi and Nawaz Deobandi, whose poetry has gained worldwide acclaim. Maqsood managed to leave his mark among the poetry stalwarts. Maqsood has been in Qatar for the last 22 years and holds a prestigious position in the literary world and is a member of International literary organisation Bazm-e-Sadaf Qatar Chapter.
In March 2017, Maqsood was honoured by Indian literary organisation Bazm-e-Afzal in the West Bengal Urdu Academy. Maqsood was also honoured by Chiraagh-e-Adab Aurangabaad, Shaiqeen-e-Adab and Bazm-e-Ham Khayaal, the Rustam Khan Foundation and Jan Adhikaar Morcha of Jamshedpur on his visit to India.
Bazm-e-Sadaf Chairman Shahabuddin Ahmad congratulated him and wished him well for the future. Ahmad also said that it was a proud moment for not just Bazm-e-Sadaf but all lovers of the Urdu language in Qatar.
