The Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and Guinea President Professor Alpha Conde discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop them in various fields, especially in energy, economy, investment, sport and food security, in Conakry on Friday.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region and the world and the threat of terrorism. Both sides affirmed their commitment to combating terrorism.
Conde, who is also the President of the African Union, affirmed that the African Union supports the Kuwaiti mediation to resolve the Gulf crisis through dialogue.
The Emir thanked the Guinean President for his position towards the ongoing Gulf crisis.
The Emir stressed Qatar's continued support to African countries in the fields of development, health and education.
The Emir and the President of Guinea witnessed the signing of several agreements to boost bilateral relations.
An agreement to encourage and protect investments and another on maritime transport were signed between the two countries.
Similary, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Ports Management Company (Mawani Qatar) and Port of Conakry was signed. Memoranda of Understanding in the fields of youth affairs, culture, sports, and food security were also signed.
The Guinean president thanked the Emir for visiting his country and stressed the importance of this visit in strengthening bilateral relations.
Thanking the Guinean President and the Guinean people for their hospitality, the Emir hoped that his first visit to Guinea would enhance cooperation and friendship between the two countries to serve the interests of their people.
After leaving the country, the Emir sent a cable to the Guinean President, thanking him for the warm welcome he received during the visit that provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, in addition to enhancing bilateral relations.
