Fayez Faleh Al Shammari; a number of ambassadors, defence and military attaches based in Qatar, and members of Bangladeshi community and guests.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar HE Nazrul Islam expressed his gratitude to all those who fought and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Bangladesh in 1971 under the leadership of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of Independent Bangladesh.
The ambassador gave a brief talk on the economic achievements and developments made by Bangladesh since independence, especially under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Ambassador Nazrul Islam praised the leadership of Qatar for getting acknowledgement on world level for its significant role in various sectors at the regional and world levels.
Defence Attaché of Bangladesh Brig. Mohammad Khair Uddin expressed his gratitude to the armed forces of his country for the supreme sacrifices made in keeping peace in various conflict areas of the world. He said his country was the largest contributor to the UN peace keeping force.
The Armed Forces Day is marked on November 21 every year. However, due to the ongoing War on Gaza it was not observed on its precise date this time.
The envoy said that from humble beginnings, the Bangladesh military has evolved into a modern, well-equipped, and highly skilled force, capable of defending the nation on multiple fronts.
“At home, we have been heavily engaged in the nation building and development programmes. During the time of natural calamities, our armed forces are the most trusted friends of the masses,” he noted.
He said that through careful planning, investment and modernisation efforts, the Bangladesh government has played a vital role in ensuring that the country’s armed forces remain at the forefront of military technology and strategy.
The Bangladeshi Armed Forces, in line with the national foreign policy guideline, “Friendship to all, Malice to None” would continue to maintain good ties with friendly armed forces in the days ahead, he added.
