The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a draft law on regulating ownership of properties for non-Qataris and the use of real estate.
The draft law stipulates that non-Qataris may own properties in Qatar as per conditions specified by a decision of the Cabinet and based on suggestions of the commission for regulating non-Qatari ownership and use of real estate.
The draft law provisions will be applicable on land space, buildings and residential units, and detachment units in residential complexes.
The Cabinet also reviewed the annual report of the National Committee for Traffic Safety and its recommendations.
Established as part of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the committee frames policies and strategies relating to traffic safety. The panel also studies traffic problems and suggests appropriate solutions.
The committee coordinates and cooperates with different entities to regulate traffic.
It also proposes the drafting of legislation on traffic and road and transport engineering, in compliance with international standards and the requirements of continuous development of roads and transportation.
The report referred to the preparation of the National Strategy for Traffic Safety 2013-22 and the executive plan of the strategy and its revision.
