QATARI artist Abdelsalam al Qadi has unveiled five of his latest portraits made of Swarovski diamonds at the National Museum. The portraits were exhibited on the occasion of Qatar National Day.
The portraits include, among others, that of the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Father Emir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
Qadi, who learned this rare art in India and Malaysia, has mastered the art of making portraits with diamonds and other precious stones through years of dedicated practice.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Qadi said that through these portraits he wants to express his gratitude to Qatar's visionary and able leadership that steered the country out of crisis following the unjust siege imposed on Qatar by some of its neighbours in June this year.
"The new portraits, like the old ones which were displayed at Doha Sheraton earlier, are aimed at reflecting the country's love for the leadership. It is to convey our trust in the leadership to the world," Qadi added.
It is noteworthy that Qadi's works got noticed during an exhibition at Doha Sheraton for its"uniqueness".
Qadi concluded by saying that Qatari artists were currently focusing on translating HH the Emir's oft-quoted line"Qatar deserves the best" into their works.
