THE educational and entertainment activities being held as part of the 2nd Mahaseel Festival will conclude at the Cultural Village Foundation 'Katara' on Saturday, only to reopen next week during weekend from Thursday to Saturday until the end of March.
Meanwhile, the festival continues to be a hub of social activity and is attracting attention of several dignitaries and envoys.
On Thursday, Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar HE Muhammad Basri Sidehabi, Ambassador of Morocco HE Nabil Zniber, Iraq Embassy Charge d'Affaires Dr Abdulsattar H al Janabi, Ambassador of Kuwait HE Hafiz Mohammad al Ajmi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Qatar HE Najib bin Yahya al Balushi, Ambassador of India HE P Kumaran and Yahya bin Saeed al Nuaimi, assistant under-secretary for Commerce Affairs visited the festival.
They were received by Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti.
The dignitaries took a tour of the fair and admired the quality and variety of Qatari agro, dairy and horticulture products on display.
The festival also received a number of school students, including a delegation from the Nomas Center of Kuwait. The children were accompanied by supervisors to different corners of the festival.
Mahaseel Festival hosts many local companies in order to introduce their products to the public.
Many Qatari companies from the food sector, specialising in the production of dates, milk and its derivatives and natural juices, have put up stalls at the festival.
Qatari Arab Dairy Company (Ghadeer), Dandy Qatar Dairy Company, Rawia Dairy Company and Baladna are also displaying their distinctive products, which include milk, butter, margarine, yoghurt as well as natural fruit juices.
The local products are very popular with the festival audience given their taste, quality and flavour.
Qatari pineapples, strawberry and dates have also been very popular among shoppers given their high quality and variety. The diverse varietyof dates, including water, pasta, mumrour, salvation and saffraq have attracted visitors' attention.
Visitors are also keen on acquiring these packaged luxury products from the local farms, especially since dates occupy a special place in Qatar's social heritage.
