Qatar's industrial sector producer price index (PPI) for November 2017 reached 60.8 points, showing an increase of 6.1 percent compared to the previous month, data released by Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) has shown.
On year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, November PPI shows an increase of 21.4 percent compared to 2016.
PPI covers goods relating to"mining" with a weightage of 72.7 percent,"manufacturing" (26.8 percent), and electricity & water" (0.5 percent).
Mining
On month-on-month (m-o-m) basis, the PPI of mining sector in November showed an increase of 6.9 percent, primarily due to an increase in the prices of"crude petroleum and natural gas". On y-o-y basis, November PPI, shows a considerable increase of 20.8 percent.
Manufacturing
The manufacturing sector recorded an increase of 4.9 percent m-o-m in November.
An increase in prices was recorded in"rubber and plastics products" by 7.5 percent,"refined petroleum products"by 6.9 percent,"dairy products"by 5.1 percent,"basic chemicals" by 3 percent,"beverages" by 1.6 percent, and"basic metals"by 0.6 percent.
However, the decrease in prices was noticed in"juices" by 8.3 percent,"cement and other non-metallic products" by 3.3 percent,"paper and paper products" by 2.9 percent, and"other chemical products and fibres" by 2.5 percent.
Meanwhile, no monthly changes were noticed in"grain mill and other products".

On y-o-y basis, manufacturing sector PPI increased by 22.8 percent in November 2017.
The increase in prices was observed in"basic metals" by 31.1 percent,"refined petroleum products" by 27.7 percent,"basic chemicals" by 14.9 percent,"dairy products" by 5.7 percent,"other chemical products and fibres" by 4.6 percent, and"grain mill and other products" by 1.5 percent. However, fall in prices was also noticed in"cement and other non-metallic products"by 7.3 percent,"juices" by 6.3 percent,"paper and paper products" by 5 percent, and"beverages" by 1.5 percent.
Electricity, water
The PPI of"electricity and water" in November 2017, showed a decrease of 2.7 percent compared to previous month, resulting from a decreasing price in"water" by 11.5 percent, and an increase in"electricity" by 5.3 percent.
On y-o-y basis, the PPI of November 2017, showed an increase of 5.9 percent, due to a rise in both"electricity" and"water" by 8.4 percent and 2.7 percent respectively.
