DOHA: The International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha held a wide range of educational activities for school students to mark the International Day of Education.
Hundreds of students participated in the events during which they visited the pavilions of the expo and got familiarized with the cutting-edge innovations that boost sustainability, with the Expo School at the family zone holding educational and interactive activities for students.
Al Rayyan Municipality held a workshop for secondary school students from both genders at the cultural zone at Expo 2023 Doha to mark the International Day of Education and shine a spotlight on the innovative projects and educational process that helped make Al Rayyan Municipality a member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
Director of Al Rayyan Municipality Jaber Al Jaber said the event came within the celebration of the International Day of Education, especially since Al Rayyan Municipality is a member of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities and the network of healthy cities, pointing out that the municipality organized a celebration of the World Book and Copyright Day last week with the participation of over 230 students.
Al Jaber pointed out that the municipality is keen to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day at Expo 2023 Doha in collaboration with the Sudanese community and school to share ideas and cultures, hailing the innovations and scientific shows presented by the Sudanese school students, in addition to the information imparted on the Sudanese products and agriculture in general.
For his part, minister plenipotentiary and deputy head of the Sudanese diplomatic mission in Qatar Alwaleed Abdullah commended the dazzling organization of Expo 2023 Doha and all events hosted, affirming that the event is a participation from the Sudanese school in Doha to mark the International Day of Education. He added that female students succeeded in exhibiting scientific experiences, along with diverse images about Sudan, its agricultural products and climate since Expo 2023 Doha has primarily specialized in horticulture.
The celebration of the International Day of Education came in a difficult time for Sudan, but the motto of this day is consistent with the conditions Sudan is experiencing, Abdullah added, thanking the Sudanese school in Doha for the advanced performance which indicates the incredible efforts that reflect the honoured image for Sudan.
Sudan's food products, a variety of crops and scientific experiences showcased at the expo were extremely superb and are consistent with the motto of the exhibition, Abdullah outlined, thanking Al Rayyan Municipality and officials in Doha for providing all facilitations for the Sudanese community.
The event featured the participation of a host of Sudanese officials, directors of departments of Al Rayyan Municipality, alongside more than 120 students of secondary schools from both genders, including Mohammed Bin Abdul Wahab Independent Secondary School for Boys, First Assalam School for Boys, and Sudanese School for Girls.
