Qatar's state-of-the-art hospital Sidra Medicine, which is all set to open its inpatient services next week, will take about four months to become fully functional, according to Dr Khalid al Ansari, Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Sidra Medicine and Medical Director of Paediatric Emergency Services at HMC.
"This new hospital is an add-on to the existing specialised paediatrics emergency services provided by HMC hospital and its role will be to provide a comprehensive paediatric care to all the children in Qatar," Dr Ansari told Qatar Tribune on the sidelines of the second edition of an international Paediatric Emergency Medicine Conference (Q-Pem) organised jointly by the HMC and Sidra's department of emergency medicine, on Friday.
He said,"We would also encourage parents to utilise primary healthcare services to diagnose ailments in their formative period and take the benefit of the paediatrics emergency services only in critical cases."
