Mowasalat, the public transportation company, and its franchises have increased the minimum taxi fare by 10 percent.
The fare hike, which came into effect from Wednesday mid-night, comes in the backdrop of hike in fuel prices and the other expenses like maintenance and spare parts in the region, according to sources at the Mowasalat.
The minimum taxi fare has been increased from QR10 to QR11.
The sources said details regarding the fare hike would be announced by the Ministry of Transport and Communications soon.
An official at a Karwa franchise said the nominal hike would not affect the business and it would also not be a burden on commuters.
