MANILA: The Qatari swimming team won two bronze medals in the 11th Asian Age Group Aquatic Championships, in the Philippines, on Tuesday.

Muhammad Mahmoud won the bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle race for the general category with a new personal best of 22.90 seconds, while Tamim Muhammad won the bronze medal for the same race in the 16-17-year-old category.

Thus, the Qatari team’s tally in the championship rose to 3 bronze medals, as Mohammed Mahmoud won the bronze medal in the 200-meter medley race on Monday.

The Qatari swimming team is represented in the championship by 13 swimmers: Mohammed Mahmoud, Abdullah Al-Khalidi, Ali Al-Nuaimi, Tamim Mohammed, Ahmed Dhiyab, Abdullah Al-Ghamri, Hamza Shaalan, Mohammed Al-Jilani, Abdullah Mohammed, Saad Al-Sulaiti, Marwan Ahmed, Ziad Morsi, and Rashid Al-Rumaihi.

The competitions of the 11th Asian Age Group Aquatic Championships, include four sports: swimming, whose competitions will be held from February 26 to 29, diving from February 26 to March 1, artistic swimming from March 2 to 6, in addition to water polo from March 3 to 9.

The last edition of the championship was held in the Indian city of Bangalore in 2019, with the participation of 1,322 male and female athletes from 32 countries.
