'SCREEN For Life', Qatar's National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening programme, marked the World Cancer Day by reminding Qatar's population that, collectively and individually, they all have an important role in reducing the global burden of cancer.
Under the tagline 'We Can, I Can', 'Screen For Life' is working on part of the objectives of World Cancer Day including, raising awareness of cancer and healthier lifestyles, preventing cancer and providing patients with the best care.
In line with its ongoing awareness drive, 'Screen For Life' is reminding eligible people to embark on a screening for breast and bowel cancer and is touring communities with the specialised mobile screening unit.
'Screen For Life' is urging eligible women aged between 45 and 69 years to book an appointment for a complimentary mammogram at one of the dedicated facilities at Al Wakra, Leabaib or Rawdat Al Khail Health Centers. The team is also encouraging men and women aged between 50 and 74 years to seek a screening for bowel cancer and collect the fit kit at one of the facilities.
Additionally, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) physicians were reminded to electronically refer eligible patients to the screening facilities.
In its efforts to reach as wide an audience as possible with the programme's message and mission, the 'Screen For Life' mobile screening unit will be present at Al Shamal Health Center throughout the month, enabling women to explore the facility and learn more about the programme. During its tour, the mobile unit will also host free mammogram tests for eligible women.
The mobile unit is a key component to the programme's mission to raise cancer awareness across Qatar, consistently touring governmental departments, semi-government entities and private sector organisations.
