THE Public Transport Company, Mowsalat, has revised its taxi fares owing to the rising fuel prices coupled with high operational cost of vehicle maintenance, said a Mowasalat press release on Monday.
The updated fares were started recently to meet operational requirements and ensure continuity of the highest levels of services,following the approval of competent authorities, the release added.
The new taxi tariff has been effective since February 1. And the new tariff sticker has been installed on the side windows of all Karwa and franchise taxis, making it easier for passengers to view the new tariff.
The new taxi tariff is as follows:
•Minimum taxi fare per trip is QR10, plus QR1 as Technology Service Charge
•Flag fall per trip is QR4
•Rate/Km inside Doha city during the day per trip is QR1.6
•Rate/Km inside Doha city at night per trip is QR1.9
• Rate/Km outside Doha city day/night isQR1.9
Extra tariffs:
•Hamad International Airport (HIA)pickup flag fall per trip is QR25
• Telephone booking charge within Doha city per trip is QR5
•Telephone booking charge from Doha city to HIA per trip is QR8
• Waiting charge per 15 minutes per trip is QR8
If taximeter is not operational, the trip is free.
Karwa taxis are equipped with tamper-proof meters, which operate automatically once passengers get into the vehicle. Karwa boasts of a taxi fleet of 4,000 vehicles and about 4,200 buses that are operated by a large workforce of 7,000 employees from around 54 countries.
Mowasalat Operations Department applies international quality standards on Karwa taxis, drivers, franchise taxi management, as well as on vehicles' registration and drivers' qualification processes.
