SHANTINIKETHAN Indian School (SIS) has received a top national school accreditation in Qatar by meeting a set of criteria by Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
Qatar National School Accreditation (QNSA) is equivalent to prevalent global accreditation systems in performance and quality.
The QNSA certificate was granted to SIS based on varied evidences provided through analyzing the school self-study, and further by meetings with the stakeholders, reviewing school documents, classroom observations and the visiting team's overall observations.
President of Managing Committee KC Abdullatheef noted that the accreditation process helped the SIS to assess the school's quality through a critical self-study, and through development and monitoring of a school improvement plan.
The quality assessment included 107 indicators in 16 aspects under five key standards. The school submitted over 200 documents for the same.
The QNSA aims to achieve the education sector principle sin Qatar, ensuring that schools are continuously improving standards through self-evaluation and action plan.
Describing the process, SIS Principal Subhash Nair said:"The school conducted a series of surveys and questionnaires for data collection from students, teachers, parents and community members in this regard. Meetings were held with the parents, teachers and students to discuss inputs and feedback received through surveys."
The QNSA team from the Evaluation Institute of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education assessed the school standards in 2016 and approved QNSA's candidacy.
"Teachers' empowerment programmes and inter-school teachers' discussion forum were highly successful in fostering collaboration and exchange of ideas. Teachers' panel discussions on differentiated instruction and future school education were well appreciated by teachers of all Indian schools," Nair added.
The press conference was attended by SIS administrator and QNSA coordinator Syed Meeraj Ali.
