A low-pressure system that has prompted Omani authorities to sound a heavy rainfall alert is expected to cause weather fluctuations in Qatar as well.
Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority on Monday said the low-pressure system will increase cloud cover over Qatar from Tuesday evening, increasing chances of scattered rain and thunder, until the end of the week.
The rain may be accompanied by strong downdrafts and the weather conditions will lower visibility.
Citing Oman’s Directorate General of Meteorology, the Qatar News Agency on Sunday said heavy rainfall is expected in northern Oman on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the extension of an air depression coming from India. Local media in Oman said the country is estimated to receive rainfall in the range of 20mm to 100mm on these two days.
