DOHA: In ongoing endeavours to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Dr Majid Al Ansari, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reiterated Qatar's commitment to regional and international efforts while acknowledging the complexity of the current situation.

During the weekly media briefing, Dr Al Ansari emphasized the challenging circumstances in Gaza, where the humanitarian crisis is worsening. "The situation in Gaza is complex, and the humanitarian situation is going from bad to worse," he remarked.

Despite the challenges, Dr Al Ansari expressed Qatar's persistence in seeking a ceasefire, stating, "We hoped to reach a truce in Ramadan, and we are still hopeful of reaching a truce." He highlighted intensified efforts during the Holy Month, stressing the importance of protecting civilians from the consequences of conflict.

"We are not close to reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, but we are still optimistic," he added, emphasizing Qatar's aim for a lasting solution rather than a temporary ceasefire.

Regarding the proposal for an American seaport to deliver aid to Gaza, Dr Al Ansari affirmed Qatar's support for the initiative.

He confirmed Qatar's commitment to financing aid entry through the seaport while underscoring the continued necessity of land corridors for humanitarian access.

Recent comments from Palestinian resistance sources underscored the challenges in ceasefire negotiations, citing Israeli inflexibility and reaffirming resistance red lines.

Meanwhile, amidst ongoing Israeli aggression, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza persists, particularly as the Holy Month of Ramadan progresses, highlighting the urgency of finding a resolution to the conflict.
