Sri Lanka Majlis Qatar (SLMQ), a Sri Lankan Muslim community forum, recently celebrated 76th National Day of Sri Lanka with zeal and fervor.

The event was held at the Stafford Sri Lankan School in Doha in the presence of Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar HE Mafaz Mohideen, as chief guest; Principal of Stafford School Namal Fernando; President of SLMQ Abdul Rahman; embassy officials; SLMQ Executive members, and students.

The event, supported by the embassy of Sri Lanka in Qatar and the management of Sri Lankan School Doha, included a talent competition in which around 500 Sri Lankan students from various schools across Qatar participated.

Students of various age group participated in a number of competitions ranging from Young Writers, Young Speakers, Young Poet, Young Artist, Young Colourist and Young Mastermind awards, each designed to showcase the talents and creativity of the participants.

SLMQ President Abdul Rahman said the 76th Sri Lankan National Day competition stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of unity, creativity and community that defines the Sri Lankan expatriates’ living in Qatar.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, he extended his heartfelt congratulations to all participants and expressed sincere gratitude to the Sri Lankan embassy, school management, sponsors, the participating students and supporters who made the event possible.
