NOTED Indian Sufi singer duo Jyoti Nooran and Sultana Nooran, who are popularly known as 'Nooran Sisters',will perform in Doha on March 15.
The event to be held at the Asian Town's Amphitheatre is expected to attract attendance of more than 7,000 people.
This is for the first time that the young Sufi singers will be performing in Qatar. The event is being organised by Sufi Hook Team, a socio-cultural forum of the Indian community.
An office bearer of the Sufi Hook Team said,"Sufi tradition has strong roots in this region. It is also one of the most beautiful genres of Indian music, which is popular among music lovers of all generations. This is for the first time a concert dedicated to Sufi music is being held in Doha."
The 'Nooran Sisters' have been trained in the field of traditional 'Sufi Music' by their father Ustad Gulshan Meer, son of famous Late Ustad Sohan Lal Gulshan Meer and grandson of late Bibi Nooran, a renowned Punjabi Sufi singer of her time in the 70's.
Having received training for the last 10 years, 'Nooran Sisters' decided to dedicate their lives to Sufi songs. In the field of Indian classical tradition, families are known for certain skills, which are passed on from one generation to another.
