DOHA: Doha Municipality has announced its intensive preparations to welcome Eid Al Fitr, with the formation of 10 work teams from the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department, to carry out inspection and awareness campaigns on food manufacturing and supply companies, consumer associations, and stores selling vegetables, fruits, sweets, and nuts, during the morning and evening periods in all regions.
The work plan before and during Eid Al Fitr includes daily supervision of food and beverage kiosks at events, festivals, and public parks, as well as inspection of tourist and entertainment places that attract the public, such as Souq Waqif, Doha Port, the Corniche, Msheireb Downtown, the Cultural District 'Katara',the Pearl, and commercial complexes. Samples of food items will also be taken and analyzed in the central laboratory to ensure their suitability for human consumption, as well as supervision of the fish farm on the Corniche to examine and sort the fish before offering it for sale to the public.
The plan includes carrying out awareness campaigns and distributing brochures and awareness booklets in Arabic, English and Urdu to workers in food establishments to introduce sound health practices, the requirements that must be met, and how to handle food materials in healthy and safe ways to ensure access to safe food for the consumer.
