DOHA: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Administration, has opened the Youssef Hussein Ali Kamal Mosque in the Umm Al-Hawaya area (Al-Ra’i Stick). Itcan accommodate 515 male and female worshipers.

The opening of the new mosque comes within the framework of the ministry’s plan to expand the number of mosques and develop them in all regions of the country, and to keep pace with urban growth and population increase, in line with the country’s National Vision 2030.

The new mosque, which is an obligatory mosque and numbered MS 1390, includes a main hall for prayer. It can accommodate 455 worshipers, in addition to a women's hall that can accommodate 60 worshippers. The mosque also includes a spacious ablution place in addition to a large number of public parking lots, several which have been designated to serve people with special needs, with entrances and exits regulated. The mosque is also surmounted by a high minaret.

The ministry’s Engineering Affairs Department is responsible for providing the regions in the country’s needs for mosques and prayer halls, providing the regions with temporary mosques and supervising their preservation, preparing the annual plan for the maintenance of mosques and imams’ residences, in coordination with the competent authorities, supervising the preparation and implementation of construction and maintenance work for mosques, and supervising projects for the construction of mosques and residences of imams.

In mosque designs, the administration takes into account the different areas of land on which the mosques will be built, the requirements for green buildings and sustainable buildings, the emphasis on sustainability conditions in the use of electricity and water, and the preservation of heritage aesthetics in the designs in a way that reflects the authenticity of the Qatari and Islamic heritage according to the highest standards.

The ministry's plans to build mosques also take into account the population density map, engineering and architectural specifications, and the heritage aspect within the framework of caring for the houses of God to perform worship and serve worshippers.
