DOHA: Al Arabi coach Younes Ali said on Thursday his side was ready for Friday's Qatar-UAE Super Cup clash against Sharjah at Al Thumama Stadium.The kick-off of the first edition of the tournament is at 7pm.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the 41-year-old expressed his respect for experienced Sharjah players, indicating that he followed their overwhelming performance in the AFC Champions League.
The Qatari manager hailed Sharjah coach Olario Cosmin's long history and great experience in dealing with this type of finals, which confirms that Friday's match will be very difficult.
He added that all foreign players are available to participate in Friday's match, while Iceland midfielder Aron Gunnarsson, who has been out of action since QNB Stars League Week 6 over an ankle injury, is awaiting the decision of the medical staff regarding his readiness for the clash.Ali extended thanks to both the Qatar Football Association and its UAE counterpart for launching the first edition of the tournament.
The Super Cup champions will receive $800,000, while the runners-up will get $400,000.
Meanwhile, Al Arabi midfielder Marco Verratti expressed his confidence in his side's ability to lift the trophy.
The 31-year-old Italian added that the trophy would be a very wonderful thing and a gift to the fans of Al Arabi SC.
Al Arabi enter the match as champions of 51st Amir Cup and Sharjah as President's Cup winners.
