Into its third week, there's not much of a buzz about Al Bidda Park Spring Bazzar. Still, colour has not altogether disappeared from the bazaar which will run until May 8.
Products on sale include clothing, footwear, kitchenware, furniture, carpets, perfumes and toys. The merchants are also not stingy with giving discounts.
Many clothing items have hand-embroidery designs like garden kaftans embroidered along the neck that sell for QR50. Hand-embroidered shawls from Kashmir that start at QR150, Pashmina bishts selling at QR750 and women's leather slippers with floral embroidery are some other items with hand-made touches.
For people who like to make their own clothes, pure cotton fabrics sell at QR10 per metre. Leather goods wallets, bags and jackets can also be purchased at the bazaar with prices starting at QR200.
A carpet stall sells hand-wooven Kashmir carpets; their prices range from QR1,500 to QR15,000. Next to the leather stall is a display of shiny stainless steel kitchenware from chafing dishes, platters, carafes to goblets.
Visit the store selling clothing, car and home perfumes close to the children's play area. It can be distinguished by the white and amber bottles of perfumes on display. The perfumes are made in Qatar by a Qatari son-and-mother duo, and are all natural. If you happen to catch the good-natured owner, you might end up having a chat on how people should conduct themselves according to the Quran.
When I visited the Bazaar, there were only a few people around which gave me an opportunity to actually inspect and admire products without someone stepping on my toes.
The park is a great place to sit and chat with friends or family. Children's entertainment include inflatable boat rides, air castles, skating, biking or just running around. There are virtual reality games for adults, drinks and snacks and good conversation with friends. And, of course, there's always cool breeze and colourful surroundings.
