As part of its 50th-year celebrations and with the aim of fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural heritage among students, MES Indian School observed ‘World Heritage Day’ on April 18. Special assemblies were held in all sections of the school to educate students about the true meaning and importance of heritage preservation.
A formal programme took place in the school’s Conference Hall, featuring a documentary video presentation on World Heritage Day. The visual journey emphasised the significance of preserving heritage sites for future generations. Additionally, students presented a colourful costume exhibition on the theme ‘Discover and Experience Diversity’, showcasing the cultures and traditions of various communities from around the world.
Addressing the gathering, MES Principal Dr Hameeda Kadar remarked, “Through education and responsible stewardship, we can ensure that these priceless legacies of the world will continue to inspire and enrich lives for centuries to come.”
A quiz programme on World Heritage Day was conducted by Randeer K, a teacher from the Department of Social Science, enhancing students’ understanding of heritage conservation. Head Prefect Aryan Unnikrishnan spoke about the essentiality of safeguarding shared heritage for present and future generations.
Head Boy Ahmad Faisal welcomed the gathering, while Lulwa, a student of Class XI, proposed a vote of thanks. Tooba, also a student of Class XI, set the tone for the event with her introductory speech.
Jahfar Niyas Para, coordinator of the Department of Social Science, along with a team of teachers, including members of the school cultural committee, coordinated the event.
