HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Finance, participated in a session entitled "The Path to Financing for Development” at the fourth edition of the Financing for Development Forum, which was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. This was during his last visit to the United States of America.

During the session, many topics related to sustainable development were discussed which focused on how to implement and develop a framework to ensure its future success.

All participating parties exchanged their views and views, especially in the areas of economic development, industry, innovation, infrastructure, green energy, reducing inequality and global development.

The session stressed the importance of exploring ways of cooperation to achieve and apply standards of sustainability and future development.

In his speech, minister Kuwari focused on the challenges emerging in today’s world, and most importantly, the marked discrepancy in the performance of many countries, which hinders their sustainable development and significantly increases borrowing costs.

Hence, as part of the solution, Kuwari expressed the need for new ideas on financing to alleviate these obstacles, as he said: "This divergence, coupled with the sharp increase in borrowing costs in recent years, confirms the need for new ideas on financing. This is the case, which I hope this Forum and the Financing for Development Conference can contribute to.”

It is worth noting that the governments of the participating countries set goals and objectives for financing sustainable development, most notably the Addis Ababa Action Plan, which was adopted in 2015It establishes a new global framework for financing this development.
