THE State of Qatar regards population health as a national priority and works to develop an integrated health system to realise the future of population health, said Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed al Kuwari.
Thanks to the full support given by the wise leadership of the Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to the health sector, Qatar is among the developed countries in this field, Dr Kuwari said.
The minister made the remarks on the occasion of the World Health Day, which is marked on April 7 every year.
In the spirit of this year's World Health Day theme, 'Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere', the health sector in the country is organising special events to mark this occasion.
Dr Kuwari stressed the importance of continuing to work hard to improve the health of Qatari society, in line with the Qatar National Vision, which stressed the development of an integrated healthcare system with high quality health services and facilities for the entire population along with affordable charges.
The National Health Strategy 2018-22 with its 'Our Health Our Future' vision focuses on improving the health of Qatar's population, meeting the needs of the current and future generations and providing an integrated system aimed at improving health and providing better health care and better value for all, she said.
The minister said that the theme of this year's World Health Day is very important. Achieving it is the most important goal of health systems in all countries of the world so that everyone can have access to the right health services in the right place and time, and according to high standards, she pointed out.
Qatar is developing a strong health system to ensure universal health coverage for the population in accordance with the best international standards, at a time when the country's health system has been ranked among the top health systems in the world as it was ranked 13th in the world and the first in the Middle East in the annual Prosperity Index released by the Legatum Institute.
According to the World Health Organization, the goal of universal health coverage is to ensure that all people obtain the health services without suffering financial hardship.
