Tribune News NetworkDohaThe School of Economics, Administration, and Public Policy at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies concluded an orientation day on Sunday, July 31, to welcome the third cohort of students of the Dual Executive Master in Business Administration and Public Administration for the academic year 2022-2023.This executive programme is the first of its kind in the Middle East, offering two internationally accredited master’s degrees, and comes in partnership with the European School of Management and Technology in Berlin, the first school in Germany and the ninth in the world, and the recipient of the most prominent international academic accreditations in the field of business administration.At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abdel Wahab Al-Affandi, President of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, started the day’s sessions, welcoming the attendees and congratulating the students for their acceptance into the programme. He pointed out the Arab region’s need to develop the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of public administration and business administration, which presents a challenge to the executive programmes in graduating cadres and leaders who are competent and able to manage and lead the region’s institutions optimally. Eman Al-Sulaiti, Executive Director of the Administrative and Financial Division at the Institute, emphasised the role that executive programmes play. She added that the dual executive programme seeks to equip the students with the necessary cognitive and theoretical tools they need to succeed. It also enhances the skills and capabilities of distinguished administrative cadres, including officials, executives, and heads of departments.The orientation day was graced by the presence of Professor Zoltan Mockus, Executive Director of the European School of Management and Technology in Berlin, who expressed his happiness at receiving the third cohort in the programme, and the European Institute’s keenness on the sustainability and development of the partnership, stressing that this partnership is one with the State of Qatar, its people and society. The dual executive programme represents the nature of this partnership. It relies on knowledge exchange, peer learning, and applied approaches. He concluded his speech by congratulating the students for joining the program and calling on them to work hard to get the highest possible benefit during their studies.Dr. Hamed Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Administration and Public Policy spoke about the programme saying: “When talking about business administration, eyes are directed to Germany, when talking about quality and institutional effectiveness, Germany is mentioned, as well as when talking about economy, Germany comes at the forefront of world’s countries. This is why our German partner was chosen to offer this distinguished programme.” Dr. Hamed emphasised the quality of the dual executive programme and its commitment to the highest international academic standards, in addition to the high academic credits obtained by the program with its two degrees in Public Administration and Business Administration.After the welcoming speeches and the graduates’ speech delivered by Abdullah Al-Bakri advising and guiding the students and inviting them to work hard and cooperate to achieve excellence, an introductory presentation was given by Mr. Mohamed Al Iter, Executive Programmes Admin Supervisor. The presentation answered all the students’ questions and covered all aspects related to the study plan, study system, academic policies, obligations, procedures, and administrative regulations.
