Qatar will host the ‘Doha Dialogue’ on labour mobility between Gulf countries and African nations on May 21 and 22, with participation of 33 countries representing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, Jordan, Lebanon and 25 African countries.
The event will be held in the presence of ministers of labour from the participating countries, representatives from the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as well as experts, academics and representatives of civil society.
This dialogue is part of an agreement between Qatar and the African Union to develop consultative mechanisms between African countries and the Gulf States, Jordan and Lebanon.
The dialogue also aims to enhance regional cooperation and partnerships and implement best practices to ensure fair labour mobility between the two regions.
