QATAR Academy Sidra (QAS), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), celebrated the graduation of its first cohort, the Class of 2018, at the Qatar National Convention Centre recently.
Buthaina Ali al Nuaimi, President of Pre-University Education (PUE), QF, opened the ceremony by highlighting the positive impact QAS has had on the local community and its commitment to supporting QF's mission and vision.
Al Nuaimi emphasised PUE's commitment, along with all other QF schools and universities,"to laying the foundation for lifelong learning and empowering our future generations to thrive in a global environment."
Dr Adbulla al Kaabi, Chairman of the Advisory Board, QAS; and Kim Green, Director, QAS, also addressed attendees, praising the students' achievements.
Also present were members of QF's leadership team, QAS administrators and members of the wider community, while graduates' families and teachers joined the celebrations which marked the culmination of many years' hard work.
Green reflected on the occasion saying:"Today we celebrate our students; the leaders of tomorrow and a true reflection of our unique identity and culture. Moving forward, the memories of QAS will continue to empower them, remind them of their roots, and mark the beginning of their journey as global citizens. QAS is determined to be a foundation of excellence and to grow and thrive as a community. Good luck to our first graduating students; QAS will always be your home."
Three graduating class speakers, Karim Emara, Thuyrria al Mulla and Afnan Farah, also reflected on their individual experiences at QAS, highlighting how the school's vision encourages students to strive for academic excellence and become responsible citizens.
During the ceremony, Awards for Excellence in all disciplines were distributed.
Qatar Academy Sidra was launched in 2012. The school started with 53 students, and today has more than 600 students enrolled.
