Kuwait SC of Kuwait successfully reserved their place in the semi-finals of the second edition of the FIBA West Asia Super League Final 8 at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall, after claiming an 85-77 victory over Shahrdary Gorgan of Iran in their last match of Group B on Tuesday.

The four periods of the match were scored (35-23, 16-25, 17-15, and 17-14) in favor of Kuwait SC.

In the same breath, Kazma, also from Kuwait, defeated India’s Tamil Nadu 102-96 in the other fixture of the group.

The tournament is witnessing the participation of eight teams, divided into two groups. Group A includes Al Riyadi of Lebanon, Bahrain’s Manama, Lebanon’s CS Sagesse, and Kazakhstan’s BC Astana (Central Asia), while Group B includes Kuwait SC of Kuwait and their compatriot Kazma, Shahrdary Gorgan of Iran, and India’s Tamil Nadu (South Asia).

Kuwait SC topped the standings of Group B with the maximum six points, while Shahrdary Gorgan are in second place with five points, Kazma are in third place with four points, and Tamil Nadu are in fourth place with three points.

The semi-finals are scheduled to begin tomorrow, with the leader of Group A, Al Riyadi, meeting the runner-up of Group B, Shahrdary Gorgan of Iran. The leader of Group B, Kuwait SC, will face the runner-up of Group A.

 The third-place and final matches will be held on Saturday, June 1.

 The two teams that qualify for the final round will receive a place in the inaugural edition of the BCL Asia Basketball Champions League, which will be held from June 9 to 15 in Dubai.
