Students of Qatar Academy Doha distributed Ramadan food baskets to low-income families in cooperation with Qatar Charity's (QC) Executive Management of Local Operations and the Friends Cultural Center.
QC Director (Executive Management of Local Operations) Ali al Ghareeb said that the distribution of food before the Holy Month of Ramadan is an expression of social solidarity in Qatari society.
He stressed that the participation of students in the collection and distribution of food contributes significantly to the development of positive spirit among students and meets the needs of many families for food in the Blessed Month of Ramadan. He also noted that QC is ready to cooperate with all institutions and organizations to carry out humanitarian work in and outside Qatar
Qatar Academy Teacher and project in-charge Roula Aburmsman, said this project, which was started 13 years ago, is one of the significant projects to develop a positive spirit among students, and aims to help low-income families, serve the community, teach students the importance of social service and charitable and volunteer work, and instill the love of assistance in their hearts.
She added that this year, students managed to collect more than 400 food baskets containing a small toy and basic foodstuff like sugar, flour, rice, cooking oil and dates. The weight of each food basket is about 16kg. She noted that this experience has had a positive impact on students.
Students expressed happiness at participating in the drive, considering the project as a noble humanitarian work which will ease the suffering of many families particularly during the Blessed Month of Ramadan.
