QATAR Charity (QC) has opened Tamim Al Majd Educational Complex in the West Java Province of Indonesia which consists of four school buildings, four dormitories for female students, three mosques, auxiliary facilities, courtyards, corridors and green spaces.
A delegation of QC's female volunteers participated in the opening of the complex and the distribution of food baskets to poor families and school bags to orphaned students, in addition to handing over income-generating projects to those who are entitled for them.
The delegation also visited several charitable projects and participated in the opening of mosques and complexes implemented by QC in Indonesia with the donation of Qatari benefactors.
The new buildings of the complex called 'Tamim Al Majd', were opened with the donation of Qatari philanthropists for Al Shifa Charity in a ceremony, which was attended by the Ambassador of Qatar to Indonesia HE Ahmed bin Jassem al Hamar, Director of Qatar Charity's Office in Indonesia Karam Zainham, Chairman of Al Shifa Charity Suleiman Omar Qosh, a representative of the governor of West Java province, representatives of members of parliament, the ministry of religious affairs, the council of Indonesian scholars and heads of schools and institutions in the province.
Ahmed bin Jassem al Hamar said that Qatar is keen to invest in the education sector to improve the level of education in Indonesia, adding that Qatar continues to enhance cooperation between both countries in the fields of investment, education, culture and others.
Sulaiman Omar Qosh said the idea for the additional buildings came as a result of the increasing number of students, as applicants reached more than 3,000 students, whereas the complex has the capacity of 700 students only.
The delegation also visited an orphanage belonging to the Al-Nahl Foundation, which houses more than 100 orphans, and participated in the distribution of 100 food baskets to the poor and needy people and 100 school bags to the orphans, in addition to 100 each food baskets and school bags to 100 orphans who came to the QC office in Indonesia.
The delegation also participated in the opening of the Ebad Al-Rahman mosque, which was established by QC with the donation of a Qatari female philanthropist, and distributed 100 food baskets to the needy people in the neighbourhood and 300 school bags to students.
In the city of Bogor, the delegation visited Ahbab Allah centres and distributed 300 each food baskets and school bags to students.
In the city of Purwakarta, the delegation visited an orphanage and Beit Al-Quran school, where 300 each food baskets and school bags were distributed. At the end of the visit, the delegation participated in the ceremony of World Orphans Day along with 300 orphaned boys and girls sponsored by QC and presented gifts to the winners of the various competitions.
