The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) Qatar Chapter organised another continuing professional development seminar for its members at the Intercontinental Doha The City on Friday.
Around 90 people took part in the seminar on smoke control and car park ventilation. It was led by technical resource speaker Engr. Edgar Boyano and committee chairman of the event Engr. Dante P. Bernales.
"Continuing professional development (CPD) seminars is aimed at helping PSME Qatar members to focus on what specific skills and knowledge they require over a short-term period. It is also for the purpose of helping them gain CPD points which is required in the Philippines for the renewal of their PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) licence," said PSME Qatar President Engr. Rene Cirio.
PRC is a commission attached to the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment and mandated to regular and supervise the practice of Filipino professionals such as engineers. PSME Qatar has been organising regular CPD seminars as part of the professional group's mission and vision since its inception in 2008.
"We are committed to achieving our society's strategic goals such as personal and social development, leadership and professional development. Following the seminar, we are preparing for our upcoming events which includes a charity bowling tournament to mark the 10th anniversary of our chapter scheduled on June 14. We will be organising our 2nd General Membership Meeting and Seminar on July 6," Cirio said.
Underlining the mission of the chapter, Cirio further mentioned the commitment of PSME Qatar in providing a venue for its members to participate and contribute in the social, economic and industrial growth of the country, among others.
